Andres brings a diverse range of experience to BLUR Workshop. After working in his native Ecuador for five years, he moved to the United States and received his Master of Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2018. At Georgia Tech, Andres led the Net Zero Energy – Cross Laminated Timber Housing Prototype project where he explored the visual, technical and construction aspects of this novel typology. Leadership on that initiative complemented his Master’s Project research, which focused on how technological developments will change the way we inhabit cities and buildings for the next century. Following his graduate studies, Andres worked at Atlanta-based firm Gamble & Gamble before joining BLUR Workshop in 2020.
Prior to moving to the United States, Andres graduated from Universidad San Francisco de Quito with a Bachelor of Architecture in 2011. He won the architecture school’s Gold Medal for his undergraduate thesis project, which explored housing from an urban and regional perspective. The same project was also recognized with the first prize in the Pan-American Biennial of Architecture in Quito. Andres has participated in many international workshops and internships. These activities focused on architecture within the environment and how it responds to climate, culture, politics and economics.
He is currently working on a number of projects including the United States Air Force Academy Hotel. Andres brings to BLUR a unique international experience and a diverse cultural background. He is a talented designer and a believer in constant improvement. His skills and enthusiasm make him a great addition to our team.
