The Hyatt Regency Orlando Hotel and Convention Center was the winning design in a competition for the iconic new flagship hotel of the Hyatt brand. It was designed to be the premier Convention Hotel in the United States and simultaneously to create an unparalleled resort experience. The hotel is directly adjacent and connected to the Orlando Convention Center, and is the second largest convention hotel in the United States. Rising sixty stories, it will be the tallest in the southeast and have a commanding presence in central Florida. The arrival façade is designed to capture the prevailing breeze, feeding the wind through 90 horizontal wind turbines that are also key to the iconic image of the tower. Undulations in the arrival façade metaphorically recall a waterfall, while providing complex reflections and enriching the perception of the large glass tower. A rooftop night club with open air terraces and gardens is envisioned as an exciting regional destination. Mini atriums are stacked through the tower to carry the scale of the building up into the guest tower experience. Each mini atrium sits atop an intimate exterior communal porch, with long views over the Disney fireworks display. The meeting and banquet platform includes a ground breaking column-free flex hall and is envisioned to work seamlessly for one group, or for two groups that never intertwine. All of the group spaces open onto the six-acre resort environment through terraces and verandas. The large resort amenity space is full of one-of-a-kind water experiences, intent on peaking guest’s fascination and creating truly unique memories.
