MUCHACHO west midtown

The original Muchacho restaurant located in the Reynoldstown neighborhood of Atlanta is a popular, high-energy restaurant and coffee bar. BLUR Workshop was brought on to design a second location in the College Park neighborhood in West Midtown that would reflect the flavor and experience of the original but had its own unique character that drew from the location and context.

The site chosen was an old decommissioned muffler service station and emissions testing center. The main garage building serves as the dining and bar area, while new entry moments, restrooms, exterior patio space and gardens were added to complement the full-service restaurant. The building is surrounded by three separate outdoor areas with garage doors that allow interior space to spill out. Lush planting, water features, and shade structures help keep the areas cool in the summer. The largest outdoor space at 3300 sf has a terraced landscape under the existing tree canopy, complete with its own shipping container bar, a sitting fountain, event space, and half-pipe skate ramp.
